He or she will carefully explain your options, make recommendations at your request, take care of all the small details, and ensure that you and your family’s personal touch is always present.

 Robert O. Wright I

President |

Robert O. Wright I, is the Founder and President. He started his love for the funeral industry at the age of 14. He was born and raised in Wilmington De, to the late Jacqueline L. Wright-Evans and Harry S. Wright. Robert is a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School, class of 1974.He pursued his dream of becoming a funeral director and graduated in 1981 from the American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Robert later established The House of Wright Mortuary in 1987. Mr. Wright is a Licensed Funeral Director in Delaware#470 and Maryland#259.

His career has principally been devoted to service and continuing education. In 2000 Mr. Wright became a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He currently serves as a appointed member of the Delaware State Board of Funeral Service.

Robert is a faithful member of Bethel AME Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Silvester Scott Beaman. He has always been involved in the church as an usher. Robert is the Immediate Past State President of the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Delaware and is still a current member.

Robert is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is also a Past Master Prince hall Masons. He is a noble of the Mystic Shriner Suakim Temple #60 A. E.A.O.N.M.S.

He is the father of three sons, Robert O. Wright, II, Honorable Justen A. Wright & Maurice J. Foster. Mr. Wright is the proud grandfather of Robert, III, Latrell, Maurice, II, Mi-Na and Justen II.

He is still an integral part of the family business.

 Justen A. Wright

Justen A. Wright, was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He matriculated through the Delaware School System, with the great achievement of graduating from Alexis I. DuPont High School at the tender age of 16. Justen exuded a passion for the funeral industry, he persevered through a daily commute to New York City, from Wilmington for two years, in order to obtain his Associates Degree from the American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Justen continued his education at Wilmington University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

After completing a one year apprenticeship under his father, Robert O. Wright I, C.F.S.P. owner and operator of The House of Wright Mortuary & Cremation Services, Inc.; He was granted his license and became the youngest licensed funeral director in the State of Delaware at the age of 20. In June of that same year, he served as the keynote speaker for Delaware State University's Young Entrepreneur Conference. His commitment to this program was unfathomable to the point, that he reinvested his honorarium received from Delaware State University, back into Entrepreneurial programs to uplift the 19801 and 19802 zip codes in Wilmington. In addition to the Entrepreneurial programs, He has intimately involved himself in S.A.F.E. (Student and Family Enrichment Program), which is a project that focuses on introducing crime prevention workshops and activities for intercity families. Justen earned his certification as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) to augment his professional career. Justen was featured in the February 2010 edition of Delaware Today Magazine, in an article titled," Our Black Leaders". He was also featured in the City Life Magazine, in an article titled, " 19 Energizers".

In 2008, at the age of 24, Justen was elected as the youngest City Councilman in the history of Wilmington City Council. He is currently serving on the 105th Council, as an "At Large" Councilmember, which serves the entire city of Wilmington. In addition to his current elected position, Councilman Wright is: The Vice President of The House of Wright Mortuary & Cremation Services, Inc.; a pre-need insurance agent; a notary public; an active member of Ezion Fair Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor C. T. Curry, Ph.D., D.Min.; A student at Wilmington University pursuing an MSM in Public Administration; President of Delaware State Funeral Directors Association; immediate past Chairperson of the membership committee for the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association; a member of the NAACP; and former Board Member for Connections C.S.P., Otis A. Herring Community Center and the Amputee Coalition of Delaware.

Councilman Wright is married to the former Trista Laster and is the proud father of Justen A. Wright II. In addition, Justen's family history includes being the son of Robert O. & Deborah A. Wright; brother of Robert II and Maurice I; and the proud uncle of Robert III, Maurice II, Latrell and Mi-na.

Councilman Wright's commitment to the entire Wilmington community is unwavering. He has received various awards and acknowledgements from community organizations that include the Markevic A. Johnson Scholarship Foundation, the Newark Chapter NAACP; and a Daring to Make a Difference Award from Mid-Atlantic District of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc.

 Deborah A. Wright

Deborah Ann Brinkley Wright is a native of Wilmington, DE.

She is the eldest of seven children to Betty A. Mitchell and the late Warren E. Brinkley, Sr.

Deborah has been married to Robert O. Wright, I CFSP for 28 years and the mother of Robert O. Wright, II and Justen A. Wright, CFSP and one stepson Maurice Foster, I; 2 daughters-in-law,Trista Wright and Donna Foster. She is the proud grandmother of, Robert O. Wright, III, Latrell C. Wright, Maurice Foster, II, Mi-Na Foster and Justen A. Wright, II.

She  graduated from Delcastle Technical High School with a Diploma in Medical Assistance in June, 1976. She graduated from Wesley College in December of 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

Deborah resigned from The Medical Center of Delaware from the Wilmington Hospital after 18 ½ years of service on September 29, 1995 as a Legal Correspondence Secretary in the Medical Records Department. Deborah joined her husband in the family business as the Administrative Manager.

Deborah is a member of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church and was the Past President of the Senior Usher Board, First Vice President of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Wilmington, DE Club; member of St. Matthews Grand Chapter, OES,PHA and Past Matron of Star of Bethlehem Chapter #8 OES,PHA.

 Bayyinah "Beanie" Cunningham

Bayyinah was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Her early education was obtained in the public school system. After graduating from Mount PleasantHigh School in 1996 she went on to continue her education at DelawareStateUniversity, earning her BS in Social Work. Her desire to aide in the care and development of her community moved her towards continuing her education in the field of Social Work through Delaware State University’s MSW program.

In March of 2010, Bayyinah joined the House of Wright family as the After Care Director and as a Lady Attendant. While working for House of Wright she hopes to achieve for all families, the ability to heal and cope with grief in an atmosphere viewed as comfortable, encouraging and supportive.

 Tiphani Mallory

Tiphani Mallory born in Bedford, Virginia. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1992. She is the founder of her high school’s gospel choir, known as The Royal Blue Gospel Choir.

Tiphani has been singing since the age of 3. God has allowed her singing ministry to reach many people both far and near. The Lord has blessed her to be on several recording artist projects. September 2007 was her first musical debut titled “There’s Life Beyond This”. 

Tiphani is also a actress with Tyaire Productions. She has performed at the Merriam Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The Grand Opera House and The DuPont Theater in Wilmington, Delaware. She has performed with Dave Hollister, Clifton Powell, Shirley Murdock, Christopher Williams and Eunice Wright.

Tiphani is a minister and the church administrator at House of Prayer Church, under the leadership of Pastor Terry Cade, Sr.

Tiphani joined The House of Wright Mortuary in March 2010. She currently serves as a secretary in the Administration Office. Her passion is ministering in song to the families during their time of losing a love one. 

Tiphani is married to Elder Michael Mallory and from this union they have three beautiful children: Breauna, My’kell and Jadin.

 Shelley Nix

Community Relations Liaison |

Shelley has been a member of the House of Wright Family since 2006. She serves as a Attendant and is currently seeking her licensure for Pre-Planning preparations.

Shelley is a native Wilmingtonian, graduating from Claymont High School in 1986. She also attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. She is currently employed full-time with the Christiana Care Health System, Wilmington Hospital as a Senior Patient Representative in the Department of Patient Relations. She is also oversees the inception of the Patient and Family Advisory Council at the Wilmington Campus.

Shelley is a faithful member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she is the Director of the Youth Department and Supervisor of the Youth Voices for Christ Choir. She is also the Personal Assistant to the Rev. Alyce B. Husser of Shiloh Baptist Church, Wilmington, DE.

Shelley is the proud mother of three beautiful children, Bria Marie, Quinton Joseph and Maya Synclair. Her children are her pride and joy and bring a special meaning to living each day to the fullest. She is the youngest of 7 children, born to Deaconess Lillian Beard and the late Deacon Joseph Beard.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the PA/DE Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy Association where she served as Treasurer for 4 years, membership in the National Association of the Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy of the American Hospital Association. She completed the Patient Advocacy Certificate Program from Cleveland State University in December 2010. She is a former member of the Christiana Care Mentor Program which is one of three schools for chronically ill children in operation nationwide. She is also a former member of the National Association of Negro and Professional Women’s Club, Inc., and she is a notary for the State of Delaware.

In her spare time, she enjoys putting time into her own business, “Memorial Moments” which specializes in event planning and wedding consultations. She and her sister recently ventured into another family owned business, “Finishing Touches”, which specializes in fashion jewelry. She also enjoys working with the youth throughout her church and community. Her favorite pastime is not only spending time with her children and family but spending time with a very special person in her life, her Mother. She knows that her calling in life is to help others which she works tirelessly to do. Her years of commitment and dedication to serving others, is what brought her to the House of Wright family.
