 Robert O. Wright I

Robert O. Wright I, is the Founder and President. He started his love for the funeral industry at the age of 14. He was born and raised in Wilmington De, to the late Jacqueline L. Wright-Evans and Harry S. Wright. Robert is a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School, class of 1974.He pursued his dream of becoming a funeral director and graduated in 1981 from the American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Robert later established The House of Wright Mortuary in 1987. Mr. Wright is a Licensed Funeral Director in Delaware#470 and Maryland#259.

His career has principally been devoted to service and continuing education. In 2000 Mr. Wright became a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He currently serves as a appointed member of the Delaware State Board of Funeral Service.

Robert is a faithful member of Bethel AME Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Silvester Scott Beaman. He has always been involved in the church as an usher. Robert is the Immediate Past State President of the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Delaware and is still a current member.

Robert is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is also a Past Master Prince hall Masons. He is a noble of the Mystic Shriner Suakim Temple #60 A. E.A.O.N.M.S.

He is the father of three sons, Robert O. Wright, II, Honorable Justen A. Wright & Maurice J. Foster. Mr. Wright is the proud grandfather of Robert, III, Latrell, Maurice, II, Mi-Na and Justen II.

He is still an integral part of the family business.

 Justen A. Wright

Justen A. Wright is embarking on his second, four-year term serving citizens throughout Wilmington as an At-Large Member of the 106th Session of the Wilmington City Council. In 2008, at the age of 24, Justen became the youngest person ever elected in the City’s history to a position on City Council. In addition to his work in public office, Council Member Wright is the Vice President of The House of Wright Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc.; a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP); a pre-need insurance agent; a notary public; a member of Ezion Fair Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor C. T. Curry, Ph.D., D.Min.; a member of the NAACP; a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; a student at Wilmington University in pursuit of an degree in Public Administration; and President of the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association. He is the past chairperson of the Education, Youth & Families committee for Wilmington City Council; past chairperson of the membership committee for the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and a former Board Member for Connections C.S.P., the Otis A. Herring Community Center and the Amputee Coalition of Delaware.

Justen was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He matriculated through the Delaware school system, graduating from Alexis I. DuPont High School at just 16 years of age. Justen also exuded a passion for the funeral industry at a very early age and persevered through a two-year daily commute between Wilmington and New York City in order to obtain his Associates Degree from the American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Justen continued his education at Wilmington University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

After completing a one year apprenticeship under his father, Robert O. Wright, the owner of The House of Wright Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc., Justen was granted his license and became the youngest accredited funeral director in the State of Delaware at the remarkable age of 20. Also in that same year, Justen was honored to be the keynote speaker for Delaware State University's Young Entrepreneur Conference. His commitment to this program was so strong that he directed that his honorarium from Delaware State University be reinvested in the University’s entrepreneurial programs to assist citizens living in the 19801 and 19802 zip code areas in Wilmington. Justen was intimately involved in S.A.F.E., the Student and Family Enrichment Program, a project that provided crime prevention workshops and activities for inner city families.

Council Member Wright’s commitment to communities throughout the City of Wilmington is unwavering. His efforts have earned him a number of awards and recognitions such as the Salute to Excellence Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. for Community Service in promoting values of lifelong learning; and the Appreciation and Support Award from Sarah Pyle Academy. Justen has also been recognized by the Newark Chapter of the NAACP and by the Mid-Atlantic District of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs. He continues to gain notoriety as an elected official who has a keen sense of the multitude of issues that affect Wilmingtonians thus fulfilling some early predictions of his leadership skills as featured in a Delaware Today article entitled “Our Black Leaders,” and in a City Life Magazine article entitled “19 Energizers.”

Council Member Wright is married to the former Trista Laster and is the proud father of Justen A. Wright II. He is the son of Robert O. and Deborah A. Wright; the brother of Robert II and Maurice I; and the proud uncle of Robert III, Maurice II, Latrell, Mi-na and Raegan.

Justen Wright is committed to giving back to the community and remains as a positive role model for young people from all backgrounds.

Deborah Ann Brinkley Wright is a native of Wilmington, DE.

She is the eldest of seven children to Betty A. Mitchell and the late Warren E. Brinkley, Sr.

Deborah has been married to Robert O. Wright, I CFSP, owner and founder. She is the mother of Robert O. Wright, II and Justen A. Wright, CFSP and one stepson Maurice Foster, I; 2 daughters-in-law,Trista Wright and Donna Foster. She is the proud grandmother of, Robert O. Wright, III, Latrell C. Wright, Maurice Foster, II, Mi-Na Foster, Justen A. Wright, II and Raegan Wright.

She graduated from Delcastle Technical High School with a Diploma in Medical Assistance. She graduated from Wesley College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

Deborah is a member of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Silvester S. Beaman and is the Past President of the Senior Usher Board. Her civic duties include being the First Vice President of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Wilmington, DE Club; member of St. Matthews Grand Chapter, OES,PHA and Past Matron of Star of Bethlehem Chapter #8 OES,PHA.

 Bayyinah "Beanie" Cunningham

Bayyinah was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. She is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Beanie went on to continue her education at Delaware State University, earning her BS in Social Work. Her desire to aide in the care and development of her community moved her towards continuing her education in the field of Social Work through Delaware State University’s MSW program.

In March of 2010, Bayyinah joined the House of Wright family as the After Care Director and as a Lady Attendant. While working for House of Wright she hopes to achieve for all families, the ability to heal and cope with grief in an atmosphere viewed as comfortable, encouraging and supportive.

 

 

 Tiphani Mallory

Tiphani Mallory was born in Bedford, Virginia. She is a graduate from Caesar Rodney High School . She attended Delaware State University.

Tiphani is married to Elder Michael Mallory and from this union they have three beautiful children: Breauna, My’kell and Jadin. 

Tiphani is the Co-Pastor and the Church Administrator at House of Prayer Church, under the leadership of Pastor Terry L. Cade, Sr.

Tiphani joined The House of Wright Mortuary in 2010. She currently aides administratively in our Administration Office. Her passion is ministering in song to the families during their time of a loved one’s transition. 

Tiphani has always been vocally gifted. One of her joys is performing as an actress in a variety of Theatrical Productions.

 Shelley Nix

Community Relations Liaison |

Shelley is a native of Wilmington, DE.

Shelley is the proud mother of three beautiful children, Bria Marie, Quinton Joseph and Maya Synclair. Her children are her pride and joy and bring a special meaning to living each day to the fullest. She is the youngest of 7 children, born to Deaconess Lillian Beard and the late Deacon Joseph Be.

She is a graduate of Claymont High School. Shelley also attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Shelley is a faithful member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she is the Director of the Youth Department and Supervisor of the Youth Voices for Christ Choir.

Shelley has been a member of The House of Wright since 2006. She serves a dual role as Community Relations Liaison and Family Support Staff.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the PA/DE Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy Association where she served as Treasurer for 4 years, membership in the National Association of the Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy of the American Hospital Association. She completed the Patient Advocacy Certificate Program from Cleveland State University in December 2010. She is a former member of the Christiana Care Mentor Program which is one of three schools for chronically ill children in operation nationwide. She is also a former member of the National Association of Negro and Professional Women’s Club, Inc., and she is a notary public for the State of Delaware. 

In her spare time, she enjoys putting time into her own business, “Memorable Moments” which specializes in event planning and wedding consultations. Her years of commitment and dedication to serving others, is what brought her to The House of Wright family

 Tarawa "TC" Cartwright

Director of Operations|

Tarawa "TC" Cartwright is the 8th of 11 children born to Pastor & Mrs. Carlton A. Cartwright. TC was born in Milford, DE. He was educated in the Worcester County Public School System, graduating from Pocomoke High School. TC is currently pursuing a degree in Government & Public Policy at Wilmington University. TC is the loving father of two daughters: LonDynn and Alana Cartwright.

TC developed a genuine love for people while ministering his God given ability, as a musician in the Pentecostal Churches of God of Lincoln Inc. He brings that same passion to the House of Wright Mortuary where he serves as a Musician and Director of Operations. His goal is to serve the families of Delaware and the surrounding areas with dignity and professionalism.

His life is indicative of one of his favorite sayings, "Consider the postage stamp: its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing until its gets there."
